Hello,
As a long time lover of the natural world, I have reached a point in
which I can aknowledge that in order to preserve that which I value most
in this life, I must change the way I live. I am just starting out on
my path towards sustainability. The food-body-planet connection has
called out to me and I am currently researching the different ways in
which I can contribute.
My goals are to take a year off and organic farm throughout the U.S.
(through programs like WWOOF) in order to build a connection between
myself and the land. Having a degree in biology, but no practical
experience, I am taking a horticulture class to help orient me with the
plant world. As a part of the class I am required to research
careers in the fieldj that interest me. I have decided to research what
is involved in teaching permaculture.
I would appreciate any information that you can give me regarding
pursuing a job teaching permaculture. If you could answer some of the
following questions, it would be most helpful to me.
-What is required to teach permaculture? Are there legal guidelines
which must be followed?
-What would you recommend to prepare to become a permaculture teacher?
-What is the salary range that someone could expect to make as a
permaculture teacher?
-Do you think that the field is growing?
-In your opinion what are the drawbacks to teaching permaculture?
-What are the benefits?
-Is the permaculture movement as big in America as it is in other parts
of the world?
And any other information that you think would be helpful would be most
appreciated.
Thank you so much for your time. Although I do not know exactly what
road I will be traveling down, I know that I must follow my passions,
which include a desire to be in balance with the needs of our ecosystem.
