Subject: [permaculture] chickens in tehe city
Date: Sun, 19 Sep 2004 14:10:01 -0400
Greetings, Thunder Bay permits chicken within city limits as long as the
land is zoned for agricultural purposes. One problem with this is that
most residential land is not so zoned. Another problem is some of the
land that is zoned as such is where the local Fair takes place. This
land also contains an indoor golf dome and a mega complex movie theater,
much of the rest is parking lot.
A group of us are seeking to amend the city bylaw to enable people to
keep a small number of chickens on any residential property as long as
certain conditions are met. we are looking for suggestions as to what
those conditions might be. Why conditions, without them the bylaw will
not pass.
