I don't think things really change by developing leaders. I think
things change by developing leadership in everyone. Developing
leaders means some will lead and others will follow. I think it is better
to teach people how to lead themselves. Leading the individual is
probably the hardest thing to do in making sure that while leading oneself you
have to honor the ideas and opinions of all the other leaders. I
think the worlds systems as we know it are based on people following
leaders. It also implies that we need to be lead because we could
never figure it out without those who lead. Some might say it makes it
easier to have leaders lead...but just look at any political body
and they are all less than honest with a huge lack of integrity
and trust. Seeing the individual as part of the whole and working
towards that end with each person taking complete responsibility for his
thoughts, ideas etc. and being able to act, in concert on those
ideas. Being able to sit and talk all the ideas out until all are heard
and a consensus is reached after and only after everyone is heard.
Teaching people just how important and valuable they are. I don't
think this happens when we follow and others lead. I lead me and you lead
you and together it becomes easier to go forward....in a line. It
takes work but it develops an enormous amount of intimacy. And intimacy is
probably the best checks and balance system. If I am intimate with you I
won't pollute your yard and I won't liter in it. If I am not intimate with
you...who cares? I dont' really know you. Hence the
reason we made laws....because we are not intimate with each other so
someone has to keep us in line. I could go on but I think the
point is made. Why not go all the way if your going to create a workable
system? It's all doable, just gotta do it.
