We refine the majority of the USA's
oil and produce more plastic polymers than anywhere else. The office
buildings are monstrous chrome and glass edifices, towering over the
prairie.
In a few years we'll probably pick up a copy of Time magazine and find
a picture of you on the cover against a backdrop of austere Houston
skyscrapers
draped from their peaks in kudzu and clematis, squirrel nests and Spanish
moss.
A closer look will reveal way in the background the diminutive ghost of Mrs.
Warren passed out under the foundation shrubs (spiraea, mock orange, eleagnus
and lonicera fragrantissima) amidst a clutter of beer cans and wine bottles.
