As far as I know tetanus (also known as lock-jaw)
is transmitted through an open wound, especially deep puncture wounds. The usual
culprit is a rusty nail, or piece of wire fencing. When I was a kid we had a
goat who died from it. It seemed okik a very painfull and long
ordeal.
