The March/April '00 issue of National Gardening has an article on pages
40-43 on colored carrots. John Schneeberger of Garden City Seeds,
Hamilton, Montana, is quoted in reference to the purple variety
'Dragon', "This early-maturing (65 days) Kuroda-type carrot has a
spicy, sweet flavor that does not get harsh in hot weather."

The article also discusses red, yellow and white varieties and seed
sources. The article shows a picture of "Dragon Purple" which looks a
very-slightly-purplish red to me.
