It is most difficult to pick my favorite. However, one day when I was
visiting the Percy's store, the former Kumquat in Covington, I was
asked by his daughter (having met me on more than one occasion and
knowing that I had corresponded and visited her father in the recent
past) which was my favorite novel? I instantly said it was The
Moviegoer. She asked why and I replied that it was clean, simple
and elegant -- like a clear piece of cut crystal. She seemed to like
this response and she said it was her favorite also. Dave Duty, Austin, Texas Patrick Lynch wrote: I agree. TSC has a combination of thought, humor, and good old Southern/American whimsy that cause it to work best for me. Though in a pinch, I could mugwump over The Moviegoer, The Last Gentleman, and Lancelot, all of which get the old think tank and faith tank a 'runnin'. |
