I seem to remember Peirce using communication with his dog as evidence of triadic communication. I remember being startled by it and wondering what WP thought about it. I was looking at his copy of Peirce's collected works, but no marginalia gave his reaction (if any) away. Of course, he had no trouble viewing other philosopher's--even those he admired--as being wrong about certain points.
