Crosses do not seem to occur that often. I suspect that they are all pecan
as seedling leaf size and shape do vary quite a bit.

Subject: [nafex] Is my pecan seedling a hican?
I planted pecans from my trees and many germinated and are growing up
quite well, but the leaf shape varies among seedlings. For example, some
leaflets are wider than others. I have wild pignut and mockernut pecans
in my area. How do I determine if I have pecan or hican seedlings? Can I
determine this by phenotype (at this point that means leaf shape) alone?
