Just watched both these videos and learned a lot about fruit
diversity and the
problems of bringing new varieties to the general market place.
Especially
interesting was the threat to bananas that have a history of
disease problems.
We see this in apples, but fortunately we have had plenty of
alternative varieties
to replace problematic ones.
It would be nice if this Canadian source can do a series on
non-tropical fruits.
We certainly have a lot of interesting things growing in the
northern climates
like pawpaws and various berries. I'm sure we have our share of
fruit explorers
here in the north that would warrant a tv series.
