The last time I cooked anything with pawpaws has been several years ago -
but my co-workers will never let me live it down.
I had some frozen pawpaw pulp in the home freezer; had probably been there
for 2-3 years, awaiting use, frozen in a sealed plastic container.
I made some pawpaw cookies, using one of the KYSU recipes(I think). My
daughter ate a few that night, and I took the remainder to work the next
day.
Everyone(including me) who ate pawpaw cookies developed what I suspect was
staphylococcal food poisoning - nausea, vomiting, diarrhea - some persisting
for as long as 3 days.
Otherwise, it was just coincidental.
But, you might want to be sure to pack extra toilet paper, Pepto-Bismol,
&/or Imodium, just in case.

I think I will try some pawpaw muffins and take on a canoe trip next week
with my brothers. Judson L. Frisk
