I've used autumn olive successfully under nut trees, but under fruit trees
they interfere with harvest unless pruned severely.. They are the best
N-fixers. Plants like clover which can be mowed, would seem better under
fruit trees. Autumn olive is invasive, but I have found mowing a couple of
times a year is adequate to control that. Hector Black, zone 6, middle tn
