Subject: [NAFEX] Paw-paw taste, and why bother

I have a small colony of wild pawpaws in my back yard--they were there at
the edge of the woods when we bought the house. For over ten years, they
bloomed but never set fruit. So the last couple of years I started to
fertilize them along with my other fruiting plants. They started setting
fruit, and last summer I was able to keep the fruit away from the critters.
It was quite tasty--The fruit is worth the fuss. Pawpaws need pollination
from non-related trees, so although I don't know of other trees in the area,
I guess they're around.
