I am beginning to have some experience with che. I received my tree
form Edible Landscaping as well, I planted it during spring 2008. My
understanding was that it was a self fertile variety grafted to Osage
Orange rootstock.
It grew well and is now about 12 feet tall. I have had to do very little
pruning. During 2009 it had multiple blooms; 2 or three of these set
fruit. During 2010, It set about two dozen fruit, although this was
only a fraction of the total number of blooms. I noticed this past
summer that not all the fruit seem to ripen properly. Some fruits
enlarged, but stayed very hard and eventually dropped off before
softening. I harvested about a dozen soft, delicious fruits. No
significant pests, bird damage or disease to report so far.
