I received a small Carmine Jewel plant yesterday at the Chicago Flower & Garden Show from Gurney's. They gave them to members of the press to try, and, of course, write about. They said it was the perfect container fruit, but literature that came with the plant states that Carmine Jewel doesn't fruit until it's shoulder-high and wide. That sounds too big for a container, more like a plant for a shrub border or to stick in my fenced veggie garden. That's where I have blueberries and cranberries, to keep the critters away.
The tiny plant already has green buds, and there is still snow on ground here. So, I guess I'll plant it in a container initially.
