I've got 3 different types of U of S cherries
(Carmine Jewel, Crimson Passion and Juliet I think ) and none of them
show any signs of suckering.
I also bought mine small and they have filled out
very quickly (having reached 5ft or so within 2 years). So I would plant small
and get harvesting sooner (my Carmine Jewel had a crop every year since planting
and this year (year 3 or 4) is a bumper!).
Interesting to hear about your plums suckering, I
only have a european plum and it doesn't seem to be a problem as
yet.
