You must be seeing dwarf or semi-dwarf trees being advertised. My Asians are about the same height as European and Southern pear cultivars--25 feet or so.

I think the Tsu Li and Ya Li on betulafolia are considerably shorter, though---more dwarfy. They might be closer to 12 feet now that I think about it. My trees are 25 or so years old.
