Josta berries are excellent for fresh eating. We have not tried to use them for pies.

I have been following this thread with interest as I would like to try rubes but believe that I am on the edge of being able to grow them. My summers are hot, my deer-protected site is sunny all day.
Does anyone like Josta berry for fresh eating and fruit pies? I understand
that it is more heat-resistant.
