I agree. Only wild blueberries seem to ripen all at once. Though that may only be appearances since the wild creatures may be taking the earliest ones. Jim, picking blueberries one-by-one may seem tedious, but really it only takes a few minutes to pick a couple of gallons. The ripe berries practically fall off in your hand. Once you learn the correct pressure to apply, you can basically "strip" a branch with your hand and come away with only the ripe berries. Kevin z9

Our blueberries all ripen over a period of days or even weeks, so they must be picked one by one. No picking with a rake or other device, as some are dead ripe while others on the same bush are hard and green.

I'm getting my first crop of blueberries but don't know when to
pick them. If I leave them on the stem, waiting for all to ripen, will the first ripe get over ripe and fall off? I've got bird netting over them and picking them one at a time off the stem is a bit tedious.
