Smooth green snakes are seldom found on the ground. We just saw one
yesterday coming nearly vertical down a tree trunk, clinging to rough places
in the bark. They are very boring snakes to keep in captivity because they
move so slowly in order to look like part of a plant. My husband says he's
nearly chopped such snakes several times with a machete or clippers before
he spotted them. Donna
