The first question is, is it a muscadine?
Muscadines have small leaves and smooth bark compared to other grapes. No
real lobes on the leaves, just a serrated edge.
If it's a muscadine, here's the
question I want to know for myself. Can I graft a good tame variety to
wild male vines? We are near the northern border of muscadine territory,
so I have been good to the wild plants in hope some will fruit for me.
Some bloomed last year and never made one grape. I never got around to
taking a close look to sex the blossoms. There are plants off in
the woods that drop fruit, so I know the female vines are worth
having. Donna
