Alan, I'm just about to build a similar enclosure here for my
blueberries... Is it really necessary to have a chicken wire ceiling?
So far only the rabbits have been damaging the spring buds... Is
yours setup so you can stand up inside of it?

They're pretty easy to control that way and the chicken wire keeps out the
birds so I'm not unintentionally killing any of them.
