How cold does it get in winter where you are? Are there names for
Univ of Sask cherries? How do they bear?

HelloI'm
As a novice backyard fruit grower whose intention is to provide as
much of our own produce and variety for my 3 growing hungry boys,
continuously evaluating new things to fill up my yard with.an
I've got a selection of raspberries, strawberries, 2 blackberries,
amelanchier, hardy kiwis, and an apple tree with 2 more on the way.Northsky
Still deliberating over getting one or 2 pear trees.
I've also got 2 U of Saskatchewan cherries, but since I am a
self-confessed cherry addict, I was thinking about trying a sweet.
I've seen Biga and Binga available up here in Quebec, also Mazza
cherries (Mazy and Maza), as well as the old standards Stella and
Lapins which I am worried about not being hardy enough.
I am also still undecided about plums, mainly because I don't think
with all the rest of the fruit that I have enough space for 2.
So I read about chums, never seen or tasted one, sounds interesting
as they're smaller than the plums, also less work potentially.
If anyone has any advice on chums versus plums and sweet cherries
for the north ( Ag Can Z4b/ 5), I would appreciate it.
I guess I should really ask this in another post but I am also
thinking of planting blueberries this year. Are Polaris and
good choices for a smaller garden?
Thanks in advance
Caren Kirk
