The Aronia I've eaten tasted like damp cardboard. I do not understand their appeal.

Aronia isn't a fruit to eat fresh. Even though it can develop high sugar (I've measured 23 Brix and more on ones I've tested) you can't eat that many before the astringency makes your mouth feel dry. The two main varieties are Nero and Viking. They top the list in productivity. Hidden Springs Nursery has them. -Lon Rombough NEW grape pruning video: http://www.bunchgrapes.com/dvd.html Grapes, writing, consulting, my book, The Grape Grower, at http://www.bunchgrapes.com Winner of the Garden Writers Association "Best Talent in Writing" award for 2003. Please send me the name of a nursery that sells Aronia melanocarpa (sp) that tastes good.
I had some but they got uprooted when they were in the way but I forgot where I bought them. So I got a new batch from a Conservation tree place but the fruit has almost no flavor and leaves a bad after taste. I need good tasting plants. Thanks.
