The University of Minnesota has apparently come up with a trademark for
its newest apple release. The apple is patented as Minneiska (US Plant
Patent 18812). This is the one that none (or few) of us will get to grow
any time soon. Here's a link to a Univ of MN publication that identifies
MN 1914 as ''Sweet Tango''.
A search of the Trademark Electronic Search System (TESS) at the US
Patent and Trademark Office shows that Univ of MN has registered
''SweeTango'' as a trademark for fresh apples (serial number 77262481,
registration number 3455128). It's one word with one 'T' , capitalized.
I guess the U of MN was ' Driven to Discoverâ„¢ ' the lamest, cutesiest
possible name.
