Barbara Harrick asked, "Jim, when you start them indoors--it that by seed
and in a 5 gal. bucket or do you transplant them while they are inside after
starting them in something smaller?"
I started them in 3-1/2" x 3-1/2" x 5" pots. What appears to be the
secret to getting artichokes to fruit in their first year is to cause them
to get root-bound while feeding them all the water and fertilizer they need.
