Excuse me, but the name is, after all, Diospyros _virginiana_. Did you
think maybe they might be growing in Virginia? Didn't see it on the list.
Well they are, wild and cultivated. And they were in Ohio, too.

Hello folks. As some of you know, I'm working on a sort of online
non-commercial repository for everything persimmon-related. While I'm
focusing on Diospyros virginiana, I'll be adding some asian persimmon
content as well.
I was wondering if some folks here might lend a hand. It was an
extremely important food historically. As settlers expanded throughout
the US, many times, so did their plants.
