I have PF1 (harvest 5 days prior to Harrow
Diamond). Last summer would have been it's first summer to fruit, alas the
April freeze, so I can't say much yet. I will say it blooms profusely and
it hasn't been as vigorous as other varieties. Word also has it, the trees
are short lived. Dennis Norton has lots of PF1's, maybe he can chime
in.
I had also wanted a PF5(from memory it
ripens around Harrow Diamond) but changed my mind. I found in
the 2004 harvest report from Mt. Vernon (Internet) they were no longer
recommending PF5 due to mediocre quality. This is confirmed by a peach
grower about 30 miles from me. He says the quality is mediocre,
but much is forgiven since it's the first peach of his season.
