When I plant peach pits here in zone 3, I place them in loose soil just
before the ground freezes. When they come up, I dig each out and move them
to a permanent site.
When I first started my peach growing project, I handled seed using the
accepted method and wound up with alot of seedlings that couldn't handle the
Winter. Now I save myself alot of time and frustration because planting
them in Fall weeds out the weak. The ones that can't survive a zone 3
Winter don't germinate.
