Jerry,
Some time back Pomona had an article about a guy growing peaches up north.
He used little temporary housing for his peach trees in the wintertime. He
would then wreck them out in the spring. Built them out of pallets or
something real cheap. He was experimenting with heating them with candles
and other various low cost methods of heating. Just have to keep them
warmer than -10F. Thought this was a pretty ingenious way to do it.

Subject: [NAFEX] growing fruit trees close to the ground
I've heard that in Morden, Manitoba there was a fellow who trained a peachtree so its branches were close to the ground, so that he could cover the
entire tree with raked leaves for winter protection; and that he would share
his peach crop with folks at the Morden Experiment Station.

And I've read quite a while ago that in Siberia or in that general part of

snow.
to the ground, to help with winter protection?
