Potassium sprays such as potassium
dextrolactate applied a day or so before the expected frost will give
several degrees of protection. Since the effect only lasts two days at the
most it doesn't work on massive multi-day freezes.
Bob Purvis, the Nafex apricot consultant,
swears by it. Here's one source that mentions use of KDL as part of a spray
program for peaches. I don't know about peer-reviewed research into the
effectiveness.
