Fresh urine tends to be acidic and is 95% water and 2.5% urea. The
average pH of urea is 8.8. Urea in soil is converted to ammonium (NH4)
and/or ammonia (NH3) which is rapidly converted to nitrate (NO3) which is in
the form taken up by plants. Its effect on soil pH is fleeting and almost
momentary.
