A fuller version of the following was posted on a local (s.WI) garden
listserv. I know NAFEXrs have been doing smaller-scale & informal "Fruit
Tree 101", but has anyone helped with the formal organization ?
(www.ftpf.org) Could NAFEX support, even if just helping spread info?

We will be planting 40 to 50 fruit trees and shrubs under the direction of
Peter... from [local nursery]. Activities will include digging, planting,
mulching, and having lots of fun! Volunteers are asked to bring their own
spade shovels. No experience is necessary, and a rewarding experience is
guaranteed!
Fruit Tree 101
Background: The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation (FTPF; ftpf.org) is an
international nonprofit charity dedicated to strategically planting fruit
trees and shrubs where the harvest will most benefit communities. Our
Fruit Tree 101 program involves donating and planting high quality fruit
tree orchards at public schools of all levels, across the country, to
provide generations of students and teachers with healthy nutrition options
and environmental education opportunities. During our planting events,
volunteer FTPF educators hold lessons with students to discuss the
importance of trees for the environment and fruit in the diets, culminating
in a group tree-planting exercise, activating students to take positive
action for their environment. One school district official wrote that they
expect their outdoor orchard classrooms to last for decades, giving our
students the opportunity to receive environmental education that would not
otherwise be available to them.
