Could also depend on the lay of the land.
When we lived in Missouri, there was a lot of productive ground that had
slope, as ours did. We purposely rented our ground to a no-till farmer to
minimize soil erosion. Our neighbor with similar sloped ground did
conventional tillage and eventually the ground became so eroded he had
to pasture it. I like the idea of building soil by plowing in cover
crops, but for sloped ground or areas with minimal rainfall, no till
has its place.
