I have as much success thru early July as late April(when
I usually bud Oriental onto
virginiana). Virginiana rs roots do not
start growing until late summer here in middle
Georgia, therefore the trees budded in early July will
put on about as much growth as
those budded in late Apr.
I had no freeze damage, altho 30 miles south of me had major
damage to peaches
and plums. Somehow the temp hoovered around 33F at my
place. There is major
fruit drop now from the drought. Yet if we get any
apprecible rain in the next few days I should be
OK. The Shinko and Korean Giant pears have a good crop but need
rain
also.
