One pair of Robins can do $200 worth of damage in my black raspberry
patch. Make that $600 by adding their clutch of offspring. Now multiply
that dollar figure by all of the other kinds of fruit-eating birds and
multiple that by all other kinds of berries the dastardly birds eat. If the
cat nay-sayers had their way and cats were minimized, we'd have an explosion
in the bird population and no berries for ANT OF US to eat. I wish bringing
more feral cats home would solve my bird problem.
*Wisconsin Voters Back Plan to Hunt Cats ** * February

"Estimates of the number of songbirds killed each year by feral cats in
Wisconsin alone range from 8 million to 217 million,
though the number is actually believed to be around 39 million, said
Steven Oestreicher, the chairman of the congress." http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=662272&page=1
