"Lucky,
The N in my bag of 10-10-10 is in the form of Ammonium Phosphate.
Least-wise that's what the label says."
I sez:
The label on my slow release plant food (19-6-12) lists the source of
Nitrogen as Ammonium Nitrate, the source of Phosphate as Ammonium Phosphate
and the source of Potassium as Soluble Potash.
I had rather use manure and compost but the National Geographic Society
furnished booklet which accompanied my Wollemi Pine recommends a low
phosphate fertilizer be used to nourish this tree. Slow release plant food
is too dear to use outside on all my nut and fruit trees.
Pecan tree fertilizer is available here (SC) and I guess that it is
available in other places where pecans are grown commercially and privately.
It doesn't list anything except granular zinc 36%. You can search the NAFEX
archives for pecan tree fertilization concerning foliar feeding which I am
convinced is the way to go.
