Here in northeast Arkansas we had rain last Sunday. Over the days
since, one of my blueberry bushes rapidly browned and died. Over
the same period, an otherwise healthy young apple tree had all its
leaves turn crispy, although still green(!) and get a silvery sheen
over them, and drop off! It has been a disconcerting week!
And here I was thinking I was doing alright. The blueberry is
surrounded by healthy bushes, so it was not another case of 2,4D
drifting over, which has happened twice this summer. It has been like a
pressure cooker here for the past two months, with very high humidity
and heat. Today is typical at 88% humidity. Heat indexes
have been over one hundred much more often than not. I may soon be
moving out of here! You people up north have got it made now with
the warming trend. It seems unfit for human habitation around here
anymore. But does this problem with the two trees sound familiar to
anyone? Thanks.
