Thank you all for your help & opinions! I did find this in my reading
travels, it must be what I had originally read one time, now to share it with
everyone else:
LaCrescent plum (Prunus americana X Prunus salicina) is a small, yellow,
freestone plum, almost looks (and tastes) like an apricot. The flesh is sweet
and juicy. The fruit ripens early to mid-August. LaCrescent is a 1923
University of Minnesota introduction. The tree is hardy to zone 4 and is
considered one of the hardiest plums performing well even into southeastern
North Dakota.
