I have a couple trees which used to turn almost all orange, until I removed
the nearby cedar, but they never defoliated. I don't know if the orange
spots can re-infect and make more spots; doesn't sound right to me, if they
need red-cedar as an alternate host. What did the links posted by Sam B
indicate about that?

My orchard lies in the midst of farmland -- open, cleared, seas of corn and
rice. There may, in fact, be few cedars around. Well, I cut down half the
tree yesterday, and I guess I'll just have to go ahead and take it all
down. Can I expect this round of infection to defoliate the trees, then?
Copper spray wouldn't help?
