I am one of the nafex folk that John Bunker of Fedco had testing the Fort
Kent King
blackberry. I am done testing and have dug a number of plants to get rid of -
(I called
John and he said it's ok for me to sell them).
My conclusions: a fine small berry, hardy to -34F or so, burnt to snow line
at -43F. We
have 95 days frost free, so was a challenge sometimes to get ripened. We have
a serious
meadow vole problem in our location and this year they chose to strip every
plant ( about
80) at 6" - so I will have no laterals to fruit. I dug up this patch to
replace with
currants. I would like to give a couple people in a little warmer zone a good
deal on the
batch ( it's several bushels, counting sprouts easily 100 plants - most with
mature
roots). I'll divide into batches of 25 plants if asked.
Please copy/paste my email and contact me privately asap.
