The only one I have experiance with is the Chef
which has survived in central Illinois for four years. The are easily grafted on
osage orange which at one time was used as a hedge to separate farm fields but
now occurs mainly as a weed in pastures and fence rows. The blooms kind of
resemble a fuzzy balll. My oldest is in a valley and I think would have fruited
except for a late frost.I received the scions from Wes Rice who described the
fruit as quarter size, distinctive sweet flavor and attractive to
birds.
