Lon,
I have Maypop all over our pasture. Over the past
two years, I have been observing them and this year I have noticed one
that really stands out. It has fruit about the size of a large
hens egg, and fruits prolifically, with fruit every 2-4 inches along the
vine. It is also very compact, at least the above ground portion. It also was
one of the first vines to set fruit, so they hopefully will ripen earlier. I
plan to protect a few fruits so I can taste them when ripe. The few I tried last
year (from some of the other vines) were quite decent. I can dig up some root
cuttings for you and maybe we can make an exchange. When is the best time to dig
the roots?
