A couple years ago I offered seeds of a nice black cherry (P. serotina) tree
growing in Madison WI. It has a little nicer timber form than most,
likewise autumn leaf color, longer leaves than I see on most other b.cherry
trees, almost no black knot infection, and useable but not amazing fruit.
(This year the tree is feeding a small flock of blue-jays.) NAFEX listers
who grew seeds reported worthwhile germination and seedling growth, but very
poor winter survival, no matter the over-wintering method used. I have
another batch of seeds, if anyone wants some.
