We used to get Japanese beetles on the Linden tree out front of my parents house. They would completely defoliate the tree. My mother tried traps and other stuff, then about fifteen years ago she used milky spore, an organic treatment, and the one application worked for almost fifteen years. Recently she said they started appearing again. Milky spore is a bacteria that infects the grubs and prevents them from becoming adults. This was in northern Ohio and some people say it doesn't work everywhere. You might try it though. It's better than having to spray sevin every year.
