Very interesting apple flowering on a few trees this spring. Three "summer"
apples
(Aug to early Sep ripe) seemed to rebloom, or at least finish blooming, a
week after
our coldest weather here. We had some raw cold & rain & wind, and then the
apple
flowers all faded, and then later a few trees rallied. The one which showed
the
most flowers after frost is a strongly biennial-bearer, which could not have
held
more buds-- flower buds stacked on flower buds, only half were open for the
bad
weather. Were these later flowers too immature to be damaged by freezes?
