Richard, do you have a bird problem when the saskatoons are ripening,
and what do you use if so? Jim Luby at the U of M said they decided
saskatoons were probably not a viable crop for Minnesota after seeing
the many foliar diseases and bird predation on the plantings at Staples.

I have Smokeys, Regents, Honeywoods, and about half a dozen other
species
and cultivars. The Smokeys and Pembinas are the best producers of those
that are old enough to produce. The smokeys I raised from seed after
picking at Carmen, Man, Can. The Regents (sourced from Regent,,ND) has
produced the most from two plants.
