I worked with zinc and zinc sulphate on pecans for
25 years. We recommended 5 lbs of zinc sulphate for pecan trees 20 yrs old or
older on sandy soils and 10 lbs per tree on clay solis. On younger pecan trees,
1/4 th lb per inch of trunk diameter. This does not work on alkaline soils
however. The zinc and calcium react forming zinc carbonate which is insoluble. A
little bit in a compost pile should be plenty as stated in a previous
post.
