Hmm. Since they are both Asian, I wonder why my D. lotus fruits so
readily while D. kaki doesn't. Maybe it isn't the lack of summer heat
that stops the kaki from fruiting, but lack of sunshine. The Japanese
trees I noticed were in open areas, like near farmhouses in Aomori
Prefecture in northern Honshu. My tree is in a shady place.
