Those other groups have one thing NAFEX lacks - a central headquarters
of their own. NAFEX has no single place to collect and sell anything.
The SSE has Heritage Farm in Decorah, IA. If NAFEX was to have a
central "farm" like that, we could do such things. But it would take a
complete structural reorganization. The rub is that it would take a lot
of money to set up. This comes up every so often, though the last time
was before the advent of the online group.

I love the ideas presented, not only higher membership, but also items

and market it, and I was wondering if any of us have any worth while
discoveries/breeding results that could be gifted to such a scheme? An
apple that
would seem to epitomize Nafex would be the Milo Gibson. Other early

considering any trademarks or copyrights, but more of a nursery
offering.
An idea: maybe talk to the folks at Seed Savers Exchange, who sell the
best and
most unique of their veggie offerings for a fundraising efforts. They
also
maintain a 700 variety apple orchard, all pre-1900. Other groups, such
as an
antique rose assoc. offer stock in their catalog. Maybe we could offer
select
heirloom or unique selections in the same manner and reap the small
profit? I
would be happy to graft a couple hundred of something...
Thinking out loud.
